Today the students finished their Cold Read Test they started on Friday.
Any student who still did not finish there test should come see me during lightning time and team time to complete it.
We then moved our focus to our first project of the quarter.
The students will be working on an informative paper in class within the next couple weeks. This project is entirely in class. All of the material the students will need will stay in class in their folder.
Today we went over the students checklist and the rubric for the paper. The two sheets the students received is below.
The paper is tentatively due on November 13th

November 1st:
Today the students finished The Dark Side of Chocolate video and notes and turned their attention to an informational article.
As a class we read the article Ivory coast Cocoa Farms Child Labor: Little Change and C.U.R.E.d it as we read.
In pairs the students filled out a graphic organizer to help organize their thoughts and facts they want to use for their research. This sheet should have been completed in class.
Any student who did not finish should come during lighting time or team time to finish their research with the Ivory coast Cocoa Farms Child Labor: Little Change article.

November 2nd:
To begin class the students re-read the article we looked at yesterday.
The students then completed a notes handout where the students used a graphic organizer to help them talk notes that they would use in their paper next week.
When the students completed their graphic organizer we had a class discussion about what they read and acknowledging the similarities and differences they saw with the article and the video.
Individually the students moved on to their third source.
Together the student read and C.U.R.E.d the article and completed another notes handout.

November 3rd:
Today is research day!
Students will continue to work on their research for their informative paper.
If the students have finished all of their research thus far they can begin on a 4th or 5th source. Students can choose from the google doc list below to continue their research.
