To begin class students will have the first 10 minutes to complete and turn in their "Watch Out" article handouts. These include: the article, text-dependent questions, and discussion questions (all stapled together and turned in at the end of class).
WE will discuss the text-dependent and the discussion questions as a class.
With a highlighter the students looked back in the article.
Independently, the students highlighted supporting details to help answer the following question; Why is technology considered addictive.
On a separate sheet of paper the students wrote a 2-3 paragraph response to the question using textual evidence.
At the end of class the students completed an argumentative graphic organizer for the "Watch Out!" article.
Students will need to turn in the "Watch Out" article stapled with the text-dependent and discussion questions into the bin.

Work and complete packet #1 (due Friday)

February 22nd:
Today we will be moving on to another technology based excerpt.
At the beginning of class students will watch two of the following videos:
In their notebook the students will write down what the claim of each video is.
After watching the videos we will come together as a class and discuss the claim of the two videos.
The students will then take the rest of the period to read (and CURE) the article Sophia, the robot, says artificial intelligence is "good for the world."
After reading the article the students will answer the 4 questions attacked to the article.
Work and complete packet #1 (due Friday, TOMORROW)
Students will also have their first quiz on their literature circle novels tomorrow.

February 23rd:
At the beginning of class the students were asked to fill out the project selection handout. Independently the students took the first couple minutes to complete this handout with the project they are going to choose and the novel they have selected.
Today the students took their first quiz on their literature circle novel.
After the quiz the students will get into literature circle groups and discuss the chapters they read.
While discussing the students will have a job and will be responsible for completing a handout during the discussion.
