Today we continued look at technology and the effect they have had on humanity.
With their table group they will then compare the poem and the video using a venn diagram. Students should reference their summaries, the poem, and the video if they need to.
As a class we will then come together, discuss, and make a venn diagram on the board and fill it in.
Students should keep these questions in mind while filling out their venn diagrams:
Is the tone similar or different?
Do they express similar themes?
Do they play with language in the same way?
Independently, the students will complete the Guided Reading handout.
Students should complete this handout for homework if they did not complete it in class.

February 13th:
Today students will receive their Cold Read Test 2 back.
Students will have the whole class period to complete test corrections.
Any student that does not finish their test corrections in class need to complete them during team time and lightning time this week.
Test corrections are due Friday February 16th (this Friday).

February 14th:
Today the students took the first 5-10 minutes to complete their guided reading handout.
We then discussed how the speech we listened to on Monday was argumentative.
With a partner the students had 20 minutes to complete the Argumentative Reading Graphic Organizer. (They have completed one like this before for The Eternal Frontier story).
We will review the graphic organizer at the end of class.
When students are completed with this assignment they will turn it into the bin.

February 15th:
Today students will complete their third warm up pop quiz.
Students are able to use their warm up notebooks on the quiz.
When students turn in their quiz they are able to complete their test corrections or any missing work for ELA.

Bring literature circle novel TOMORROW
Complete vocabulary by 2/16, TOMORROW

February 16th:
Today the students began working with their literature circle novels.
Individually the students completed an introduction sheet to get them familiar with their novel.
Then, with their group they completed an introduction activity (activities vary depending upon the novel your student is reading).
At the end of class the students received their week #1 packet which should be completed by next Friday 2/23 (Students will turn in this packet for a grade on Friday).
With their lit circle novel the students will need to complete the following:
A packet each week (for 3 weeks)
There will be a quiz every Friday on their novel
Next, week the students will get their literature circle novel project they will need to complete and turned in March 9th.
