Today the students will have the class period to finish and turn in their text-dependent questions from the story "But Who Can Replace A Man."
In the last couple minutes the class will stop and discuss the story/text-dependent questions before wrapping up and filling out their rolling knowledge chart for the story.
If students finish early they can use this time to read their novel or work on their book project (which is due on Friday!)

March 6th:
Today the students will begin the last and final text for this quarter, "Will Computers Edge People Out of Entire Careers?"
As a class we will read a couple different statements and the students will decide whether they agree or disagree with the statements. They will check their position and give a reason why they feel that way.
We will then read the article together as a class and CURE as we read.
Then with a partner the students will look back at the statements and determine if the author would agree or disagree with each statement.
At the end of class we will come together and discuss how the author would feel about and answer these statements.
If time allows the students will complete their rolling knowledge chart for "Will Computers Edge People Out of Entire Careers?"
Check over and make sure their Rolling Knowledge chart is complete

All through the quarter the students have been reading text based around technology and the impact it has had on technology.
Today the students will be introduced to their final project for this quarter, an argumentative essay.
We will be working on this assignment in class until the end of the quarter/track out.
Students will pick up a performance task handout and a Unit 3 Argumentative essay handout. These two handouts help to outline what this final project is and what we will be doing for the rest of the quarter.
As a class we will review the two sheet and then turn our attention towards the rubric.
With a partner the students will dig deep into three of the categories on the rubric answering the a Rubric Analysis sheet.
We will come together as a class and students will share out what they discovered with their partner.
All essay/paper material will stay in the classroom in a folder. Students who need to bring the folder home will need to check it out from me before doing so.
