Today students took their second quiz on chapters 5-8 of The Outsiders.
When students completed The Outsiders quiz they worked with the Robert Frost Poem, Nothing Gold Can stay.
After reading, annotating, and dissecting the poem the students used imagery, like Robert Frost, to create their own poem about a theme in The Outsiders.
At the end of class the students received the study guide for The Outsiders test on Friday December 15.
Work on Historical Fiction project (due Monday, 12/18)
December 12th:
Today we began class by passing back everything the students have turned in this quarter.
This included all of The Outsiders handouts the students have turned in thus far.
Students will recieve their first outsiders quiz, cocoa bean paper, and other assignments that were graded.
These assignments will go into the students folder that is kept in the room.
Students will keep out any Outsiders material. They will use this to help them study for their Outsiders test on Friday.
After the folders the students were separated into two different groups in the room.
One group was the Socs and the other was the Greasers
Within their group the students completed a handout focusing only on their group.
After both groups were completed the students partnered up with a student from the other group and listened as they shared how they completed the handout focusing on their group.
Once both students shared with each other they worked together to fill in what was similar in each group and what was different.
This activity will allow the students to see how the two groups in The Outsiders are not as different as they might have thought.
